WiFi certification system at the hotel. How much change to the existing network?

The most worrying thing about many hotels before deciding to go on the certification system is whether it's gonna be a lot of trouble, whether it'll stop for long, or if it will replace all the equipment already in existence. That's a valid concern, but change it.

Before deciding to go on the certification system, many hotels worry about one thing: whether the renovation will be cumbersome, whether it will stop for a long time, or whether they will replace all the equipment that already exists. That is a valid concern, but what the volume of modification will depend on what the network is now. The situation varies widely from structure to architecture.

Let's figure out what structure our network is.

The difference in the amount of adaptations is essentially due to differences in network structures.

The type is a hotel-owned local area network. Broadband access from operators, through the hotel’s own routers and switches, is allocated to individual guest rooms and public areas.

The other is that the operator's fibre-optics are connected to each guest room, with three networks of cats, and the hotel itself does not have an independent local area network, each of which amounts to a separate access. This architecture modification certification system requires additional equipment, and the luminous cat is usually the operator's equipment, it cannot be changed directly in hotels, and the entire remodeling path is different from the previous one.

The authentication system requires the deployment of NATSHEL_AUTH_GATEWAY, usually between hotel export routers and inner-network switches. This device takes over network exports, with all users passing through it, uncertified traffic is intercepted and jumped to Portal page before certification is released.

The impact on the wireless equipment is small for AP, ACs that are already available and in most cases do not require replacement, but simply to configure Portal's reoriented URL onto a new authentication server. If the original AC supports Portal certification (most commercial AC-supported), the configuration changes are minimal.

The equipment to be deployed is usually: NATSHEL_AUTH_GATEWAY one (exiting the room), authentication servers (local deployment or cloud cover), log servers (if local storage is chosen). Construction is mainly at the level of on-board connections and software configurations for machine room equipment, with little impact on guest rooms, network splitting can be arranged in the morning valley time, usually within 30 minutes.

The idea of this architecture is to have a wireless router next to the light cat, closes the wireless function of the light cat and provides WiFi with a new router. Roadways are certified as Portal via cloud-end authentication platforms, and guests can jump out of the certification page when they join the new WiFi.

The difficulty is that the Homcat superman password is in the hands of the operator, and closing the photocat wireless requires coordination with the operator, not directly from the hotel itself. Second, the router's location line requires field surveys, one router per four guest rooms is a common deployment density, building walkways, installation locations are identified in advance, or work will be done. Third, the rehabilitation of the kmmotha itself and telephone and television functions will not be affected, which is good news.

The amount of work for such modifications is larger than the local area network, mainly at the construction level.——The wiring, routers and equipment are required on a case-by-case basis, depending on the size of the hotel.

The authentication method is different, and the calibrations are not identical.

If you have to match it with a room number and name spell-in, you need to develop an interface between the authentication system and PMS. The PMS brand is different, interface specifications are different, the docking suppliers are needed to ensure smoothness, and those that have not done so may be unable to do so significantly longer or even more.

One suggestion was to ask suppliers which PMS brand interfaces they had made, so that they could report the previous case by name. If you use PMS in your hotel, the risk of docking is much smaller; if not, it needs to be carefully evaluated.

How do you guarantee the Internet for customers during the renovation?

The usual approach is to switch lots in the sub-region: first, a few floors are remodeled and the certification process is confirmed to be perfect before being pushed to the hotel as a whole. Each batch switch can be arranged at the lowest occupancy rate in the morning, with minimal impact on the guest.

The whole process of transformation has a key detail: the dumb terminal equipment (top box, IPTV, smart door locks, etc.) is to be loaded into a white list before being connected; otherwise, the MAC address will be intercepted when the authentication system is online, and problems with the top box are encountered, and there will be trouble tracking it. This is to make a complete list of the equipment before construction, not one after the line.

Delivery and transport dimensions after conversion

When the certification system is online, it is recommended that a vendor be required to produce a copy of the transport document indicating where the back office is, what indicators are monitored daily and what is done in the first step of failure. If hotel IT staff are not strong, this file determines whether or not to call someone at home every time a problem arises.

The storage of the log server is another matter that requires regular attention, and if you have a full capacity to write it, compliance will be problematic.
