The Yunnan Institute of Cultural Arts and Art was established in 1956 on the edge of the concuming mountain, the first public art professional college in Yunnan province. It has been through such historical periods as Yunnan State School of Cultural Arts and Arts, Yunnan Province Music School, Yunnan Province Arts School and Yunnan Province Arts School.
In 2004, the Yunnan Arts School, Yunnan Culture Department Staff College and Yunnan Film School were merged to form a Yunnan Cultural Arts Professional Institute with higher education. In 2011, the school restored the name of Yunnan Arts School, retained secondary arts vocational education and formed an integrated university curriculum owing to the special needs of artistic talent development.
In 2018, Yunnan Institute of Cultural Arts and Art was officially administered by the Yunnan Provincial Education Agency. The College comprises the theatre and music academy, the performing arts college, the music school, the design and media institute, the cultural tourism college, the education college, the radio and television institute, seven second-tier colleges and the Ministry of Ideas and Politics, the General Studies Centre, the Continuing Education Academy, three teaching entities; it is co-built by the University Corporation.“Yunnan Yippen College of Cultural and Artistic Industries”“Institute of Education Industry”
