Before the campus network certification management system is online, many schools place their concerns on the functional list, and often the true decision to succeed or fail is a fundamental question that is not clearly identified at the selection stage. Once operational, the certification system involves tens of thousands of teachers and students throughout the school on a daily basis, it will be costly to change it. This will clear up several issues that must be clarified before the selection model is selected for checking the network centres before they can be set up and recruited.

Issue I: Identification of the target and the certification scene

The campus network certification system first has to answer the question."Which manufacturer?"But..."Who, what scene to authenticate?"The student residence usually requires personal IDs and multi-ends, classrooms and libraries are often open on a uniform time frame or free of charge, the machine rooms and laboratories are authorized by schedule, and visitors and out-of-school personnel require temporary account numbers. The requirements for certification methods, strategies and experiences vary widely from one scene to another, and if one scenario is selected, the back line will be different.

Question two: Where do account numbers come from?

The campus network’s account number system usually connects to a school number, a work number or a unified identification system. When selecting the model, it must be confirmed whether the system can access existing account data sources such as teaching systems, a study worker system, and a single identity recognition platform. If the certification system maintains an independent register that is out of touch with the existing school account number system, synchronizing the accounts for opening accounts, changing the student’s books, leaving the school is made manual and the workload is very large and prone to error.

Issue III: Scale and simultaneous development at peaks

The number of people online may not be high at regular intervals, but suddenly peaks in the start-up season, school day and examination week. The selection cannot be based on average online numbers alone, the processing capacity of certified servers and Radius services must be measured by size and high parallel development of schools and consideration given to load balance and cluster deployment."Theoretically peaked"and"It's actually stable to run together."Distinguishing would best require manufacturers to provide practical reference for the operation of institutions of the same size at the tender stage.

Issue IV: Certification is to cover the main terminals

The equipment in the hands of students is varied, Windows, Macos, Andre, iOS, and a large number of smart televisions, games, IOT devices. The campus network certification management system must cover mainstream authentication methods such as Web Certification (Portal), 802.1X, and Seamless Authentication (MAC automatically tied). Different types of equipment are compatible with authentication methods, and it is advisable to organize a list of common equipment for all schools before selection and to validate each item at the bidding or POC stage.

Question V: Whether fees and Internet access strategies are involved

Some colleges have a network of campuses that are either on a month-, school- or traffic-based basis, which requires adding up the capacity to account for the certification system. If you only need to verify free access at open hours, the system can be lightly quantified; if you need to do so, it takes into account such capabilities as billing, defaulting, self-service payments, matching a cartoon or micromail payment."Certification + Authority + Billing"The full link or only the certification authority to avoid leaving the billing requirement out of the request.

Question six: Do you have a side or a chain of deployments?

The deployment location of the authentication system directly affects network availability. The failure of the certification system under the side mode does not affect the transmission of existing networks and is safer to operate; the chaining method allows for centralized control, but may affect the whole network if the system fails. For a scenario like this in a campus that requires high stability requirements, it is generally recommended that there be an extra space for side deployment and authenticating servers.

The core of the campus network certification management system is to think about six things at the demand-writing stage: the certification scene, account system, synthesity, authentication methods, billing requirements and deployment architecture. After the underlying questions are cleared, it is not possible to lose direction in dozens of functional points. Thinking about pre-selection issues is actually the biggest cost for follow-up and transport.
