In the daily use of WiFi certification systems, authentication appears to be a time parameter that actually affects both connection experience, account security and transport workload. The short-lived period allows users to frequently access log pages, mobile office and cross-regional usage to be easily interrupted; the long-lived period allows for the possibility of retention of separation accounts, temporary visitors and lost terminal privileges.

First, we'll distinguish three confusing concepts of time.

The planning period is preceded by the separation of account numbers, authentication session validity and idle time. The validity date determines how long an identity will be eligible for access; the validity of a certification session determines how long a successful authentication can be maintained; and the free time is used to handle connections that have been inactive for extended periods.

Different identities should be subject to different life cycles

The internal staff usually need stable and continuous network access, and the certification cycle can be aligned with the current status, uniform directory or account management process. Visitors’ accounts are better suited to bind the purpose of the visit and expected duration of stay, automatically disqualifying them from service upon expiry.

For printer, conference terminal, information screen, etc., which cannot easily interact, the focus is not on a simple extension of the life cycle but on establishing clear mechanisms for recording, belonging and recovering equipment.

Re-certification in the nodes that really need it.

Recertification does not have to be triggered by time alone. Account numbers are disabled, passwords or identity properties changed, end-use changes, access areas changed, and managers take the initiative to recover permissions can all serve as nodes for re-validation. This approach is more relevant than reducing the certification cycle for all people and makes it easier to balance continuous use experience.

At the same time, note that terminal recovery from hibernation, movement between different points of access and network short-time fluctuations do not necessarily mean a change in identity. If every network switch requires re-entry, users mistook normal wireless roaming for system failure.

Avoid“Full-scale unification”Simple Configuration

The same rules allow for frequent login by some users, while keeping the other part of the rights too long. A safer way is to create a small and clear set of strategies by identity type, each with an indication of the applicable target, effective range, maturity treatment and responsible person.

The policy should not be too detailed. Too many rules make it more difficult to classify accounts, question-check and maintain daily.

Establish enforceable maturities and recovery processes

The question whether the validity management is required to alert, immediately break after maturity or wait for the end of the current session, who will approve the renewal and how fast recovery should take place when equipment is lost should be written in advance. For clear events such as separation of personnel, cooperation terminations and equipment scrapping, it is up to the business management process to trigger the recovery of privileges on its own initiative, rather than just waiting for the meeting to expire naturally.

Daily transport can be a constant focus on several phenomena: repeated recertification by the same user, active conversations of expired identities, maintenance online of permanently unbelonged equipment and multiple renewals of visitor privileges. These rules are often more valuable than simply pursuing longer or shorter periods of effectiveness.

Optimize from the clear border.

The WiFi certification system’s validity strategy is essentially a balance between convenience and authority boundaries. It is clear who can access, how long they can be used, what changes need to be re-checked, by whom the rights are recovered, and set specific parameters that reduce the disruption of frequent login and the risk of prolonged legacy of temporary privileges.
