The bill is the most contradictory part of the school WiFi web-based Authentication & Billing system. Students do not want to spend money, but rather hate spending that is not clear and unfair. We have dealt with a number of complaints, often not because of prices themselves, but because rules are unclear, boundaries are not clear, there are problems being explained.
Think about what the bill is for.
School Internet access charges are usually based on two objectives: one is to recover a portion of bandwidth costs and the other is to use price leverage to guide students to rational use. If the aim is to recover costs, the pricing is close to actual export expenditure and cannot be considered a profit-making project; if it is to direct reasonable use of the network, it should be based more on timetime strategies, speed-limiting strategies than on high prices. If not clear, the price will swing today, with less revenue, more complaints tomorrow, and less student can do so. It is recommended that before strategy is determined, the network centres and finance make the accounting clear and the public disclosure principle.
The set is simple and transparent.
The most offensive is the fee scale that students can't read. What basic package, lift bag, night pack, summer packs are folded together like the words of a operator? More securely, two to three clear packages: basic free and optional, or monthly.
Free money to keep.
Even if the whole fee is charged, it is recommended to keep a basic free line for selection, performance check, and school notification."You can't even read the notice without charging it."This kind of action triggers conglomerate. That is how many schools use it to move from conflict to acceptance.
Anomalous use with alarm and capping.
There are high-flowing movements in student dormitories, downloads, bailouts, and so on. If completely allowed, a person can drag down the entire building exit and may also have a daily bill. The system has to warn of unusual amounts, for example by sending reminders when monthly traffic approaches the maximum meal line, that it is not possible to accumulate costs at an explicit price or automatically out of the net.
We need someone to take care of the dispute.
Good rules are also controversial: deductions fail to reach the books, double deductions, and uneven reconciliations. The system must provide a clear check-in and complaint portal where students can see every deduction in time, amount, and application. Backstage should have regular check-ups and find the wrong deductions to be withdrawn. The credibility of the system depends not on perfect rules but on mistakes made by people who make it back.
The first set of billing strategies is hard to perfect once.
The first pricing is often based on a number of assumptions, running for a month or two, to reveal which packages are unattended, which periods of congestion and which types of users complain the most. So strategy design should be designed in such a way as to allow adjustment space: the parameters of the set can be changed, time rules can be adapted, and prices can be lined up without being written down in code.
I'm going to introduce the bill to the new education.
Many of the complaints are based on"I don't know."The students are not sure how to charge, how much to free and how to exceed the amount of money they pay on the Internet, until the bill comes out, and they find themselves in a pitfall. Write the key points of the Internet billing into the new student entry guide, with a simple statement of fees on the certified login page that will block half of the misunderstanding complaints. The transparency of the system depends on the rules, half on the design of the rules, and half on communication.
The reconciliation mechanism has to run automatically.
The most feared thing about the billing system is that the student says he has no money and the system says he has no records. Instead of checking by hand-month tabs, it would be better to let the reconciliation mechanism run automatically, make daily inquiries into the movements in the flow of payments and account balances, and find discrepancies to be automatically reported and put up a number of accounts to check. Automatic reconciliations both reduce manual errors and allow students to file complaints."The money's always settled."This is a matter that people are looking at, and it's a matter of keeping track of.
