The hotel IT director, when selecting the WiFi certification system for hotels, has mostly a similar supplier scheme, with high functional lists and price ranges. But after actually landing, the differences tend to be more detailed. This is not easy to sort out but often presents problems in PPTs.
Stability and cost structure of the SMS authentication channel
The most common way to authenticate the hotel WiFi is by mobile phone number plus text message code. It all seems the same, but the stability of the bottom-text channel varies considerably. Some suppliers use three operators directly link with a distribution success rate of nearly 100%; others use low-price third party aggregates, which are seriously delayed or lost at peaks and have been experiencing direct breakdowns after 30 seconds. The daily volume of text messages in full-house conditions may reach several hundred, with significant cost variations over the year.
Micro-Certificate Reaction Stability
Many hotels want to support the micro-key authentication, which is simple and easy to operate, and user scans can access. This function relies on the OAuth of the Micro-Caution Open Platform for authorizing feedback. The way a vendor realizes it affects stability: if the callback address uses a fixed domain name with reliable filing, usually no problem; if the use of dynamic IP or some informal domain names left over from debug environments, the micro-mail side sometimes limits the callback, causing certification failure but not clear reporting information, making it difficult to check.
Authentication policy configuration in multiple SSID settings
Many hotel hotels distinguish between several WiFi names: the guest network, the employee inside network, and the conference room independent network. These SSIDs are usually attached to a single certification system, but their strategies need to be separate. The room network needs real name authentication, staff in-house code number codes, meeting rooms have temporary passwords or exemptions. If the system is only configured globally and cannot be set separately for different SSIDs, it forces everyone to go through the same certification process, and employees send text messages to access them, experience them poor and operate at higher cost.
iOS equipment authenticated window behaviour
The iOS device will automatically eject when it is WiFi that requires authentication."Captive Network Assistant"The small window shows Portal pages. But the small window is a castration browser with restrictions on JavaScript, CSS and some resources. Many Portal pages are normal in regular browsers, but fail when the iOS Captive window is misburst, button points remain intact, text messages are downsized. This is one of the highest frequency complaints in the Hotel House WiFi certification project. When you select an iPhone test page for a full flow in the Cape window, it cannot just detect Andre or computer browsers.
Logicality of account validity and automatic renewal
Hotel guests usually stay for a day or two, and the validity of the accounts given by the certification system is normally 24 hours or 48 hours. Some systems start to be valid from the moment they are certified successfully, rather than being replaced in the morning after the next day. Under this scenario, the customer who was accredited at 5 p.m. the previous day expired at 5 p.m., and then re-accredited at night. The frequent resident who lived for many days has been very poor. This detail is not specifically mentioned in the functional description, which requires that the calculation logic of the period be validated on an active basis during the testing and that the supplier indicate whether the validity period supports self-defined and automatic renewal.
Treatment of equipment limits
Most hotel and hotel WiFi certification systems support the limitation of online equipment for the same account number."How to deal with equipment over and above"This logic is different: some are beyond the new equipment to be certified; others kick out the first one to be authenticated; and others pop up the tips to allow users to choose. Different approaches have a significant impact on the resident’s experience.
Authentication of readability and export capability for logs
Some systems, while recording user-certification logs, can only flip pages over time, without keyword search, without a cell phone number/MAC address filtering function and with a half day to check a record. The system is not very responsive when the web security department asks for help to identify a specific user at a given time. The selected model is designed to look exclusively at the backoffice log management interface and confirm that it supports multidimensional retrieval and bulk export, which does not seem to be an attractive feature but has high value at critical times.
System upgrade and version maintenance strategy
The authentication system is not bought once and for all, and needs to be continuously updated as the certification modality (e.g. micro-letter upgrades of API versions), changes in compliance requirements (e.g. log field adjustments), security gap repairs) evolves. Vendor maintenance strategies directly affect the subsequent risk: whether buyout is done or annual maintenance fees are regularly rolled out?
Data security for cloud management platforms
A number of suppliers provide certification platforms for the SaaS model: the authentication server is on cloud ends, and a local router is needed to guide the hotel. This way, fast-tracks, transporters are deployed, but the user's cell phone numbers, authentication records are all in the vendor's clouds. If there is no clear data security protocol, the server is not within the country or it cannot provide evidence of data isolation, the package has a compliance risk. In programme assessment, the SaaS model data security terms are reviewed separately, not just price and function.
The selection process asks for these details, not to bother suppliers, but to check deployment risks. Seventy% of the complaints from the Hotel Hotel WiFi certification project come from such details as exposure after online, rather than from functional loss.
