A WiFi certification system, with its live-in dimensions, determines whether it takes three years or one year to rebuild. It does not wait until the lights are on to see what is wrong, but before the lights are on, it knows where problems can occur and pre-empts.
Classification and prioritization of monitoring indicators.
WiFi certification systemThe monitoring and control indicators can be divided into several levels. Infrastructure layers: CPU usage, memory usage, disk space use, network bandwidth use on servers. These are the most basic, with any indicator abnormally affecting upper-level services. Applied service layers: response time for authentication interfaces, certification success rates, loading times for Portal pages, number of online users. These indicators directly reflect user experience and system health. External dependency layers: SMS access, response time for micro-trust public platform interfaces, availability of RADIUS services, database connections.
These indicators are not all alerts and need to be classified according to priority level. P0 level (required immediately): certification success rate is less than 95% of 5 minutes, authentication interface response time exceeds 5 seconds, database connections are exhausted, SMS gateways are not fully available. P1 level (required on day): disk usage is over 85%, text message service via single channels is below 80% and the number of online users has dropped abnormally by more than 50%. P2 level (required for attention but not immediately): CPU use continues to exceed 70%, certified log storage space is growing faster than expected, and the loading time of Portal pages in a given region is volatile.
The alert is classified not only to distinguish the level of urgency but also to prevent alarm fatigue. If all the alarms are called by P0-level telephone, the operator will soon become numb and the real warning is ignored.
(c) The selection and deployment of monitoring tools.
There is no absolute choice of monitoring tools."Best option"Depending on the team’s capability and budget. For projects with a strong transport team with dedicated personnel, Prometheus can be used to collect indicator data, Grafana as visual panel, and AlertManager as warning routers.——The combination is powerful and free of charge, but requires some learning and maintenance costs. For projects with limited operators who wish to reduce the burden on them, monitoring products or commercial APM tools provided by cloud service providers can be used for a simple, albeit fee-paying, configuration and transport.
Whatever tools are used, there are a few types of surveillance that must be done. First is the Health Check.——Make HTTP requests every 30 seconds or 1 minute for the key interfaces of authentication services to confirm whether the interface returns to normal response numbers and content.——Simulate the full authentication process with a test account (link WiFi, pop Portal, enter authentication code, authenticate success, access to the outer network) every five minutes and record the time-consuming and successful rate of each step. This level of operations is more meaningful than the bottom CPU/RAM monitoring because only it can tell you."Users' perception of normal services"。
Three is the log's abnormal mode test. Not just look."Any errors logs?"But look."Whether the number and type of error logs have changed abnormally". The authentication timeout logs suddenly increased by 10 times, the number of failures in authentication at an IP address was exceptionally high and all SMS calls back to overtime errors——These pattern changes are difficult to detect in a timely manner by manual logs and require the use of log analysis tools to set aggregation rules and warning thresholds.
Standardized process for troubleshooting.
A standard downtime process usually includes these steps:
First, to identify the extent and impact of a failure. Is it impossible for all users to authenticate or only for some region? Is all authentication failed or is there one? Is Portal not open or does not respond after the certification has been submitted? Clearing the fault range will make it possible to know the magnitude of the problem and the direction of the search.
Step two, fast-track a critical check. Follow a fixed check list: whether the authentication server process is running, the database is connected, the Redis cache is available, API on SMS and the network device's authentication configuration has been altered. The checklist should be prepared in advance, not wait until a malfunction occurs before what is wanted to be examined on site.
Step three, if the check list is not finished and no reason is found, start a more thorough screening.——View the details of the certification service, capture the network layer for network analysis, and view the database’s slow-search log.——Eighty per cent of the malfunctions were attributed to three categories: error in the configuration of certification services, non-availability of external reliance and disruption of network connections.
Step four, the repair operation is performed as soon as the cause is found, while recording the time of failure, its causes, methods and hours spent on restoration.
Step five, the remix after the malfunction. Not a walk-in.——There is a need for clear improvements and accountability, which should be applied to system configurations, surveillance alerts, and specific changes in the shipping document. For example, this failure was due to the fact that SMS's single access was not available, so the mechanism of automatic switching of two channels was done to avoid any further problems with the same causes.
Daily inspections: to eliminate problems before they break out.
The surveillance alarms are passive.——The problem starts to get triggered. The routine inspection is proactive.——The daily inspections of WiFi certification systems do not need to be done every day, but at least once a week. Inspections include: trends in disk space use (at current growth rates and how many days will be written), changes in the success rate of certification (whether slow down or not), text message account balances (once running out), maturity times for HTTPS certificates (whether they expire within the next 30 days) and whether backup data has been implemented successfully.
The results of the inspection should be documented.——If a survey reveals an issue that needs to be addressed, register it as a task and track it. The purpose of the inspection is to identify problems and solve them, not to complete a formal process.
The matter of shipping is not a technical, but a continuing and normative issue.WiFi certification systemWithout the accompanying surveillance alert and failure-handling regulations, stability after entry is only on chance. By building up the monitoring system, by consolidating the trouble-processing process, and by normalizing daily inspections, the quality of the system’s feeder is not dependent on a person’s ability and responsibility.
