The system’s WiFi network is only a start, and the following day-to-day operation is a real challenge. Many schools have concentrated their complaints in the first three months of the system, and network centre staff are tired of coping with problems, feeling more tired than they did before. This is not so much a problem as the system itself, but rather an operating team does not set up its daily working mechanisms ahead of time to be billed.
Unregistering accounts is the single issue with the largest number of complaints
Students come to complain."No Internet access"The reasons are varied: passwords forget, accounts are locked, balances are insufficient, equipment is tied too much, MAC addresses change, IP addresses conflict. Each of these causes is handled differently, and each process is experienced, inefficient and easily missed without a standardized check-up process.
Create"No Internet access"The problem-checking tree is the most worthwhile infrastructure for the operating team: checking account status (receipt/lock) and equipment binding (excessive), and local networks (ap failure) are ultimately system-level issues. Once standardized, this process can reduce the time taken to handle similar problems from 15 minutes to three minutes. If the back-office management interface of the school WiFi network billing system supports fast-track check, it will significantly increase the processing efficiency.
The fee dispute needs a chain of evidence.
Student complaints"I don't use all that traffic."Or..."The system's been holding me off."The type of complaints that are unique to the system.——The number of times the flow was used, details of consumption records and how the system ' s costing logic worked.
If the system log is incomplete or interface search is not easy, the operating team cannot quickly access data, it can only process by feeling——Either you pay the student back directly to settle the complaint or you cheat on the student, both of which are bad.
Batch account operations require approval mechanisms
New term starts, graduation seasons, large supplementary packages——If there is no approval mechanism for these operations, a failure could affect hundreds to thousands of accounts. There were school operators who misoperated a number of wrong packages when they opened their accounts and found dozens of account numbers to be mischarged, which took a long time to process the refunds.
The approval mechanism for batch operations does not need to be complex: the format and content of documents are reviewed before a batch is imported; the approval of the superiors is required after submission; and notification of changes is sent on the system after completion.——There was a problem, and it went back to who did what at what time.
Seasonal operation nodes have to be prepared in advance.
Schools operate with a clear cyclicality: the start-up season accounts are activated in large numbers, graduation season accounts are cancelled in large quantities, end-of-cycle traffic is used at peaks and school attendance falls sharply during the summer. Each node requires corresponding operational readiness and cannot wait until the node arrives before it is processed temporarily.
The list of preparatory activities for the start-up season should include: account batch import, fresh-combine activation, charging channels testing, and network center temporary support arrangements.
Distinction between AP malfunctions and misreporting
Sometimes students complain that they cannot access the Internet, and the problem is not billed, but it is covered by AP. The APP failure in a dormitory has caused all of the students to lose line in that area, but the first reaction is to find a charge.
The ideal operating tool is to link data from the billing system and the network management system: a region suddenly breaks its account numbers simultaneously, presumably at AP rather than at costing; individual accounts break down while others are normal, probably at account or equipment. This association judgement allows the operation team to identify the underlying causes more quickly. The school WiFi network billing system has a clear improvement in operational efficiency if it has an alert board or unusual detection function.
Periodic data reporting is an indication of the quality of operations
The network centres should submit regular operational data reports to school management: monthly number of accounts, amounts charged, number and classification of complaints, and statistics on unusual events. These data are both an indication of operations and a basis for identifying problem trends——The increase in the number of complaints for three months in a row indicates that there are problems at a certain point and that they need to be checked on their own initiative.
If the system provides only raw data without a report generation function, operators need to do it manually and time-consumingly, and each format is not consistent and readable. This feature deserves special evaluation when selecting a model.
The quality of day-to-day operations determines the sustainability of the school WiFi network billing system. It is more important than anything to establish a regulated operating process.
