Many hotels often have a little bit of awareness about the deployment before they decide to go to the hotel network audit gateway."Buy a device and put it in the machine room."The level. In fact, the audit gateway is not running smoothly, it covers all traffic, and it's very much connected to the network structure in the machine room. The underlying conditions are not clear in the lead-up period, and the problems that follow will arise one after another.

Number and type of export links

If the audit gateway is only connected to one of these links, the flow of several other lines is completely out of audit scope, which is a serious gap under real-name compliance requirements. It must be clear before deployment that all exports are connected to an audit gateway that can cover all export flows or that each export will have one additional audit device.

Sideway mirror capability for core switch

The hotel network audit gateway has two typical ways of accessing it: serial and by-pass mirrors. Serial audits are the most thorough, but a new single point malfunction is introduced; side-by-side mirroring has little impact on the network, but requires core switches to support port mirroring functions. Many hotels use old core exchanges with either no or limited mirror bandwidth, where actual mirror traffic is only part of total flow. In this case, a remote mirror will require confirmation tests at the side of the core switch without default equipment supporting the jump.

Distribution of inner-network segments

The audit gateways need to be effective in log-keeping, linking users with their identities. If the network segments are confused, residents, employees, POS machines, and surveillance cameras are all in one large section, IP addresses cannot match specific user identities, and the availability of audit logs is greatly reduced.

Wire-covered convection structure

Most of the traffic from modern hotels is via wireless networks. Wireless AP flows are more complicated when they are not integrated into one node, but rather go directly through the wire gateways. The audit gateway access location is more complex.

Retrieval of existing certification systems with audit systems

Many hotels have a Portal certification system, which allows users to access the Internet only after being certified by mobile or room numbers. The system already has user identification records. If audit gateways are connected to the authentication system, the integrity of audit logs is much higher if they can be accessed through API or Syslog for user-IP-time connection information.

Physical conditions in the engine room

This is often overlooked. Audit gateways are a physical device that needs to be placed in the machine room cabinets. Many hotel rooms have limited space, the hangars are full and there are no new places for them; or the doorways in the lockers are confused and connections need to be re-routed. These are practical problems at the construction level, and when equipment arrives without a place to put it, projects will be postponed.

Assessment of the scale of flows

A 100-room small hotel and a 500-room large resort hotel with maximum simultaneous connections, combined bandwidth usage more than double the number. Audit gateways need to be selected according to actual traffic size, with low performance models, peak periods will have problems of dropping bags, delays, or even system collapse.

Local resources for log storage

Compliance requirements specify the time of retention of a log, usually requiring that it be retained for over 180 days. The number of logs generated by an audit gateway may vary from hundreds of MB to several GB per day depending on the volume of traffic. If the equipment is not adequately stored, there is a need to attach NAS or access the log server. These storage resources are confirmed before deployment and cannot wait until the system is online to find that the log is not stored.

Technical capacity of the personnel carrying the peacekeepers

If hotel IT staff have a weak technical background or no dedicated IT, follow-up is a practical problem. The reality on the side of the transport should be assessed before deployment, deciding whether to choose between a simpler product or a maintenance service with the buyer and not assuming that the equipment can run itself.

These network conditions are confirmed not by formal listings, but by real pre-conditions that affect the smooth deployment and operationalization of subsequent deployments. Skipping these steps directly procure equipment often raises a lot of questions during implementation.
