Last year, when we were online for a four-star hotel as the WiFi Real name certification system, the project started for four hours and the first two and a half hours."Status"Not a scratch, there is so much to figure out. Many hotel owners or operators think that they're done buying the system, but in fact we met the first time at the project site, eight times on the web. You know that WiFi's real name certification system is not an independent software installation; it's embedded in the existing network, and what it looks like directly determines how the programme is going to be delivered, budget too high, and work schedule is not delayed.
The Internet map is the first dead end.
The first thing we do at the project site is find IT to get a web-based map. It's hard to say that 70% of hotels can't get the latest picture. Some take it out, or the construction plans for the renovation, and the equipment numbers, port numbers and what actually runs on them are not right enough. Without accurate trip, you can't even tell where Authentication Gateway should be. One of my most impressed projects is a business hotel in Hangzhou, whose IT gave the top-top with confidence. We designed the plan by drawing it, and we ran it down to the scene, and the access switch was remodeled twice, which was not even visible on the map. The two exchanges were under four floors of guest rooms and over 100 APs; if this problem is not discovered, all the guests on the 4th floor of the front line could be out of the net, and the complaint would blow up the front phone.
The AP dots and the signal coverage are not what you think.
The WiFi system ultimately sends signals to each room through AP, and the quality of AP coverage directly determines the authentication experience. But it's cruel: most hotels have no idea about certification when they put them in AP. Corridors are the most common way to fit them.——AP is hanging on the corridor ceiling, and signals go through two walls to the room. This can be a bit of a twitch, but it doesn't have to pop up with Portal certification page. Why? Portal authentication page is not an ordinary web page; it jumps automatically after the user connects WiFi and requires DNS redirection, HTTP intercepting a whole set of links. A little less signal, loading may be overtime, users' hands are able to switch back 4G/5 Gs, and the client reacts by saying:"Your WiFi is useless."We've had this loss at an apartment in Shenzhen, we have a lot of confidence on the way up. The third day of the line was 18%. Portal was never able to get out of the corner room and eight APs were finally made up.
Real contradiction between export bandwidth and Internet access
The WiFi Real name certification system of the hotel raises a problem that is not indispensable: after the real name, every Internet activity is traceable. What does it mean?——On the one hand, compliance requirements are met, and on the other hand, retroactivity is magnified if the bandwidth is inadequate to make the Internet experience poor. Hotel export bandwidth generally ranges from 100 m to 500 m, with 200 or 300 terminals online at the end of the season, with an average of less than 2 M. If you add a layer of real-name certified interactive expenses, it will be worse. We did a project in Kunming, where the hotel reported 200M lines, and the peak period was only about 80 M. The screening found that a fibre-optic link had deteriorated and that the jump line was resolved. Without this touchdown, the hotel WiFi authenticated system would be back on line.
Compatibility screening of switch type and authentication protocols
Hotel network equipment is generally not new.——This is a fact that must be accepted. Many hotels’ access switches were purchased five or eight years ago, when no one thought about being certified today. We met a three-star hotel in Chengdu, the core switch was a decade ago, VLAN supported only 64, and the scheme required at least 200 VLANs to separate room traffic from floor level. And then we had to add a new one to cut the guest room operation, the old switch went on to internal office at almost 40,000 more than expected. This pit is not clear enough for us to negotiate with A.
Weak power cells and electricity security are the easiest to forget.
One thing really is true: when we look at many hotels, IT spends a whole time watching the machine room looking at the racks and never lifting the power booth. But the reality is that after the WiFi real name certification system is online, there may be new equipment for independent electricity such as Authentication Gateway, log servers, etc. Where do they go? The rooms are often full and only weak.——The power plugs are not normal enough, and it is even more terrible that some of the weak ones have summer temperatures of over 40 degrees, and equipment can be put in no time for three months. So the status quo must be looked at in the weaker ones, whether the plugs are adequate, air conditioning or not, and UPS can be connected. These are hard conditions that actually affect system stability.
The current network authentication method determines the migration strategy.
If the hotel had WiFi not authenticated before, then it would have to know what the existing authentication method was. It's simple PSK sharing passwords, static IP bindings, or a Portal program. Different existing certification methods determine the migration strategy. If the PSK code is used, it means that the user has changed considerably from zero to zero and the front desk must be trained to guide the conversation in advance. If Portal is not known before, consider whether to re-use the current AC/AP configuration and reduce the renovation effort. What is most feared?——The installed person could not contact the installation, the backstage password was lost, and the equipment IP was no longer remembering. We had this situation, which we ended up re-allocationing all old equipment to new scenarios.
These seem to be not a touch-and-draw work for the hotel WiFi's real name certification system, which is a prelude to success or failure. The system is so good that it doesn't match the bottom. Many hotel managers who first came into contact with the system have no idea why it takes two or three days to do an on-site survey. Our experience is that it takes two more days to get there and two less weeks to get in.
