Many school network administrators were given the first time to purchase a campus network WiFi billing system, with questions. The market was full of products and promotional material turned over and down those words.——Uniform certification, no sense of being mobile, multi-operator dialling——It's only when we really land. Every family says so."Support"It means something completely different. This is not about concepts, but about the right to take dry goods from a chosen-stamp pit.

Step 1: Let's get to the bottom of the school network.

The selection is done without looking at product parameters. It takes half a day to get your own network clear: how wide the export bandwidth, how high the online terminal period, what kind of certification is currently in place, whether there is any need for operators and if the PMS hotel management system needs no connection. This information directly determines your core claim to WiFi's system on campus.

A college went online in 2019 with a system of WiFi billing on the campus network, which only looked at and posted the parameters of the distribution and marked 20,000 terminals online. In fact, it was found that 20,000 calls for authentication servers to record 20,000 sessions, but Portal pages were slow enough to be used when more than 8,000 people played them simultaneously. That is the difference between typical parameters and actual experience. So the first question to ask when selecting a model is not how many users are supported most, but how much time they respond by putting 80% of loads down.

Step 2: Compatibility of authentication methods is verified on a case-by-case basis

One of the core competencies of the WiFi system on campus is to provide a certification portal. There are three types of accreditation: Portal page login, 802.1X bottom-level authentication and MAC address insensitive certification.——The new students start their own registration in Portal, and then switch to a non-emotional certification that reduces friction. Not all campus web-based WiFi billing systems can smooth out this hybrid model.

Some products claim to support multiple authentication methods, actually three stand-alone modules, requiring terminal re-tocking of equipment at the time of switching and a poor experience. The selection should confirm whether: the various authentication methods under the same account number are compatible; whether or not end re-operation is necessary from Portal to no sense; whether or not the matching of iOS, Android, Windows, Macos has been tested. Particular attention should be paid to the iOS Captive Portal test mechanism, which would have had a very bad experience if the HTTP200 status code was not returned correctly on the Schoolnet's Portal page.

Step 3: Operator dial is the most easy-to-step pit to step on.

The WiFi system of the multi-operator network is the most problematic area. Operator proxy means that schools have access to telecommunications, connectivity, and three export links simultaneously. When students choose their own operator suites, they automatically channel traffic to counterpart exports.

Even more difficult is the fact that the interfaces of the three main operators to the campus network operations are different, some even non-standard ones, requiring a separate matching of the campus network WiFi system manufacturer. The selection proposal: the vendor is required to provide at least three cases of deployment to the same type of school and can contact the other manager for an independent interview."Success stories"Only the best side is displayed, and only by communicating with actual users can you know the true transport experience.

Step 4: The flexibility of the costing strategy cannot be seen only in the present.

Campus network WiFi billing system"Charges"In part, many schools have moved from long-time fees to traffic packages or month-long. But the flexibility of fee strategies remains an important indicator of choice because policies and operations are changing.

The step-by-step requirements include support for coupon write-offs, user self-service charging and bill queries, and docking with a school-based cartoon system. These functions may not be used at an early stage, and it is passive to have these capabilities without which schools decide to convert the campus network from a purely cost centre to a reimbursable service.

Step 5: NATSHEL_LOG_AUDIT is a mandatory compliance requirement

The campus WiFi billing system is naturally the point where users have a connection and their behaviour. NATSHEL_LOG_AUDIT capabilities are not sub-items but must be assigned.

One thing that is easy to ignore: log storage space. The daily certification and web logs of schools of 10,000 size can range from hundreds of thousands to millions per day, with a large cumulative amount of data for six months.

Step 6: Deployment architecture to consider expansion

The deployment is usually based on three types: a single hardware gateway, software in a universal server and cloud-based SaaS. For schools, most of the first two are selected because of data security and network delays. Hardware one-stop boxes are open but limited to expansion, and software deployment is flexible but requires wiring capability. Either option should focus on high-availability design: whether or not to support master switch, how much time to switch, and whether the data synchronization mechanism is reliable.

The network certification is an infrastructure-level service, and once the campus WiFi billing system is in place, it will be impossible for students and teachers to access the Internet.

Step 7: Post-sale turnover determines product life

The campus network WiFi billing system is not a hammer sale, and the on-line feeder's wiring, fault check, and functionality overlap requires continuous collaboration between the manufacturer.
